I’d like to express a few thoughts as we start this Thanksgiving week
.
If you are leaving the area, look at the weather forecast
for the areas you will be traveling. Let someone know where you will be going
and what your route is, make sure your cell phone is charged. If you are going
by car, make sure that it is in good working order for the trip.
Understand your limitations and the fact that the holiday
pace may drain you more than you think. Don't leave out for your 8 hour car
trip after working a full day. Don't tell yourself you will be fine to
"drive straight through" so you can spend some extra time at your
destination or get back at a certain time.
Take a little time to reach out to family, an old friend, a
coworker to see how they are doing. Sometimes just hearing from you can make
all the difference in the world.
Remember we are not all home, we are not all with our
families. We all have friends that are deployed, on a remote assignment or
separated from their family and in harm's way because of their service. When
you sit down for your holiday meal, take a moment to remember them. Reach out
to their family and let them know that we are a community, an Air Force family,
which looks after each other (this can't be just words). If you know of someone that needs a place to
go for Thanksgiving let me know, we ALWAYS have room at the Corby
house.
Lastly, please don't drink and drive. Call me at 210-319-8833.
I will come and get you or find a way to get you home safely- PERIOD!
Find something to be thankful for. Take the time to enjoy your family, friends
and your selves. Be safe!
